RTing your own compliments! cool or not cool?

I have a serious question. I’m hoping to be enlightened. I need to know what is up with RTing your own compliments. I see it regularly in the twitterverse from the big and the not-so-big alike.

Here’s my thoughts on this:

1. It is not ok for you to tell people that you are awesome, talented and a great person.

2. It is perfectly ok for me to tell people that you are awesome, talented and a great person.
