Building a new internet?

WTF? My apologies – there is no need for me to be alarmed at this point. I clearly need to do a lot more digging but my back is up.  So a ridiculously smart, well educated and way before her time friend of mine reached out to me about the “New Internet” – a new internet that could limit free information, that could be controlled by a group of individuals.

Now ponder the following if you will:

1. Naomi Klein – The Shock Doctrine – if you have read it you know where I am going with this. Is it possible that viruses are created by the very compnies who design the software to mitigate the virus? Is it possible that catastrophe is orchestrated as a way to manipulate a self serving action? <you should be nodding your head yes>

2. Ask yourself this – what sort of power would one <individual or group> have if they owned the world wide web. If they orchestrated who, when, where, why, how and at what fee.

Regulations, laws and more need to come into play – definitely get that. What I’m wondering about is what or who is behind this “New Internet” and what do they have to gain from it?

Could this be the move that turns all of us shimmying across this planet into fish within a fish bowl? I know I sound somewhat skeptical… but so what… asking questions and exploring all resources fully is the responsibility of us all.

I wonder if my theory on the people having the power <vs. the state, corpoation or other> will hold true. Will we see a global uprising? Will we be referencing history pre and post the New Internet and the fall out that comes from that? Or will this New Internet be orchestrated so perfectly that none of us even notice? Or … and my last thought – is this New Internet really just a new internet that affords us a much better experience?

Wow – I am skeptical.
