To be or not to be…

I am not one for philosophy! Truth is – it does me head in. However… I’m obsessed with the spiritual side of life these days. For the sake of this blog, it’s worth noting that I was raised by a catholic mother, we found Jesus as a family when I was about 11 – I married a muslim 13 years ago < and no he does not beat me, no I have not been forced to convert and yes I am sure he isn’t a terrorist and yes I would marry him all over again in a heartbeat> and just about three months ago I came to a place where I could happily <and without fear of being struck dead> renounce any and all organized religion.  Whoa! <just kidding>

So I guess you could say I’ve lost myself. Or as someone just this evening, pointed out – I found myself.  Interesting. When one decides to think for themselves, and seek out their own salvation with fear and trembling… and ask themselves “why do I believe what I believe?” are they lost or have they just been found?

You know that we could argue both sides of that coin until the second coming. My experience tells me that would be ridculously futile as when religion prevails logic cannot.

So back to my question! Is someone who dismisses their belief system <regardless of whether they replace it or not> lost or found? I think they just might be found! what if they have found their true inner selves. What if they have found a clean slate from which to start over. What if they have found that it’s ok to evolve, to grow and to draw a line in the sand. Being lost would assume someone is wandering aimlessly, without purpose, without reason. That is definitely not the case here. Au contraire. I think the lovely lady in yellow is correct – I think I am found.

Here’s what is working for me today - I choose to believe in Creation because I do not believe we’re accidents… I choose to believe evolution has a part to play in all of this. The end.

A very smart woman introduced me to this chap. Would love to know what you think!

Ha! I think we are accidents. But that just makes life, and consciousness and experience all the more precious to me. It’s such a gift.

I don’t understand why so many who think/believe they are created waste this gift or are so willing to take it away from others. IF, as they believe, life was given to them and to those around them by a creator, then who are they to squander it, or destroy that which belongs to another.

Very interesting perspective on both counts. Hmmm – more to ponder.
