www.Food.ca recommends restaurants. They tell you where, how much and they stamp their note of approval on them; “We recommend these professionals! In contacting them, please let them know you got their name from our site.”
I am assuming <that means I can’t substantiate this in any way> but I would venture a guess that www.food.ca charges a fee for restataurants to be featured on their site. They probably have SEO’d the hell out of their site, get loads of visitors and use those stats to get restaturants to sign on the dotted line in order to appear on their site.
I used www.food.ca to find an Indian Restaurant in Hamilton – Indian Garden Restaurant on Main Street West in Hamilton – it was by far the most appauling Indian food I’ve ever had and yes, I do know Indian food. The food was so bad that I actually wanted to go back to the site to leave a comment for any other poor soul needing to get a quick take away when they get some unexpected guests landing at the door… think I could find a place to write a review? Nope! Nadda.
I was actually annoyed with the mechanics of the site… <obviously, hence my ramble here in place of there> their stamp of approval is misleading, it is based on nothing and they have completely missed the boat when it comes to leveraging that little statistic; 78% of people by far prefer the recommendations of their network over traditional advertising.
I think someone needs to introduce www.Food.ca to SocialMedia 101. Next time I will be more selective in which sites I use… specifically, I want to find <insert what you need here> that has multiple customer reviews all giving the thumbs up.
In the mean time… may I suggest that you visit the Indian Restaurant at Walker’s and Dundas in Burlington.
